If you were to tell me that it was possible to create professional-grade web apps with no coding whatsoever, I would have made fun of you and probably stop hanging out with you. It's not like I had not tried such services in the past. After graduating high school, I once tried a mobile app that helped create another android app. The generated app was very generic and not so pleasing to the eye. Credit where it is due, the desired functionality was quickly put into action. That is the first and the last time that I had put my hands on No-Code solutions.

Seeing rapid growth in popularity in the #NoCode community, it felt like I was missing an important advancement in the field of tech. To my surprise, a lot of companies were primarily switching their stack for such no-code tools and still were making decent yearly revenue. Spotify, one of the leading music streaming platforms, has reportedly started using no-code solutions such as Voiceflow.

The major factor behind people rooting for No-Code can be narrowed down to the following reasons:

  • Reduction in development time
  • Reduction in development cost
  • Need no or minimal coding for the addition of specific features.
  • Highly motivated community support

Like every technology, such a No-Code stack has a few problems behind its sleeve.

  • Platform dependent
  • Low-level features are not easily supported

The current No-code development platforms that I am aware of and interested in are listed below. Each of the following platforms provides a significant edge over another and is useful in various use cases.

  1. Airtable
  2. Bravo
  3. Bubble
  4. Glide
  5. Microsoft Power Tools (Lobe)
  6. Retool
  7. Webflow
  8. Zappier

retool.jpg Personally, I am planning to have an overview of each of the platforms. But will be starting by mastering Retool. Unlike other platforms, Retool allows you to connect to any data sources and does not rely on any proprietary solutions. Retool has been widely considered to be one of the best platforms to develop internal tools. Doordash has been Retool for such purposes.

I believe that the pros of No-Code outweigh the cons. So I am giving another take on the wide sea of No-Code stack. I am planning to provide my weekly updates on this journey. Let's connect if you'd like to join me on this path or if you just want to have a chat.
